Lambrini Girls

Tired of half-baked drizzle punk in chastity mode? Idles become too soft and the disastrous plight of British society best commented on in a yelling voice? Don’t despair: the Lambrini Girls have something that fits the bill. With their debut EP “You’re Welcome” (2023), the riot grrrl trio from Brighton have left a burning pyre wrapped in paper on the doorstep of bourgeois society and watch as it gets stomped on. A media outcry would merely be confirmation of this anyway, but this band doesn’t just impress when it comes to lyrics and concepts, but above all musically. Garage punk meets queercore and a raised middle finger attitude, which is how this sound was born, honed and made big by the likes of Iggy Pop & The Stooges in the early 70s. No wonder the old master has already declared himself a fan of the Lambrini Girls. If you want to experience England’s non parliamentary punk opposition in action, come to St Pauli in September. The fire extinguishers are at the ready.
