Divorce

Creative descriptions of an artist’s own musical style have become a rarity. It seems that everyone always wants to be unique. But when Adam Peter-Smith was asked to describe the Divorce sound, he came up with something truly original: “[It’s] like you’re getting ready to go out, feeling like a million bucks – and then roll down a grassy hill”. There’s something to that. Just like the songs of the quartet from Nottingham. For a few years now, they have been creating an unmistakable mishmash of styles that lies somewhere between indie rock, alt-country, and sophisticated pop nuances with lyrics that lack neither pointed depth nor thematic diversity on their Eps, “Get Mean” (2022) and “Heady Metal” (2023). They are already a much-discussed insider tip, and not just in their hometown. Here in Germany, they are only just gaining momentum – and the road looks to be wide open.
